Admission fees are a R2 000 non-refundable registration fee plus a R10 000 refundable deposit, payable on submission of the application form. Facilities
- All classes fully equipped with Montessori materials across practical life, sensorial, language, maths and the cultural subjects — geography, botany, zoology, history, science, music and art.
- Swimming pool and a giant chess board.
- Playground with extensive outdoor play equipment: jungle gyms, seesaw, sandpit, clamber net, swings, rocking horse and ping pong table.
- A separate astro-turfed baby and toddler playground with a covered sandpit, chalk board, swings and seesaws.
- A peaceful nursery equipped with cots, educational toys, an ensuite bathroom and a nappy changing station.
- Secure parking for approximately fifty cars.
The garden and the animals
The children grow vegetables and look after the animals. It is not a display: they plant, water, harvest, feed and clean, and the produce goes to the kitchen.
Security
The safety of the children and staff is of paramount importance at all times. The property has an alarm system and an electric-fenced perimeter, and is linked to ZSS Security with 24-hour armed response. The gate is access controlled, and each parent is given an access tag so they can come and go as they please.
Meet our team
All our teachers — called Directresses — hold Montessori theory and practical qualifications awarded by accredited training institutions, are first aid and CPR trained and certified, are members of SACE (the South African Council for Educators), and attend workshops and training courses periodically to refresh and expand their knowledge. Many trained at the College of Modern Montessori on this very campus.
Inside the classrooms
Every class is fully equipped across practical life, sensorial, language, maths and the cultural subjects. The materials sit at child height, in order, where a child can fetch what they need and put it back — which is most of what a prepared environment means.
Meals
A hot lunch is served to full day preschool children at 13:00 and to full day primary children at 13:30. An afternoon snack, such as a sandwich and juice, is served to full day children at 15:00. Half day children are welcome to stay for lunch at an additional R30 per day, paid termly in advance; add thirty minutes to their collection time. Please send a healthy mid-morning snack — and note that we have a strict no nut policy.
Extra-murals
Music and physical education are offered by the school and are included in the school fees. The activities below are run by external providers and are scheduled outside the academic work cycle.

Holiday programme
Holiday programmes run in the breaks between each term, at R200 per day per child, including activities, lunch and an afternoon snack. Operating hours stay the same. Reminders go out towards the end of each term and places must be booked and paid in advance. The holiday programme does not run during half term, on public holidays, or the day before the start of a new term.

Can my child transfer to a traditional school later?
Yes, and many do. Montessori children generally arrive with strong discipline, confidence and independence, and adapt well. The most common surprise is the expectation of silence in a conventional classroom, which is unfamiliar after years of purposeful conversation and movement. Our senior primary runs to thirteen, so most children move on at the natural point of transition to high school.
What is your policy on nuts and allergies?
Modern Montessori has a strict no nut policy. Please send a healthy mid-morning snack — a sandwich and a piece of fruit or a cheese wedge is usually ample. Sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks, energy drinks and high sugar biscuits are not allowed.
